Overview

Module 1 consisted of HTML and CSS. We used various mediums to gain knowledge and applied hands on training in order to be familiarized with HTML/CSS. To get our feet wet, we were schooled up on Codecademy and W3Schools. Next we utilized CSS Select Tutorial website to get more in-depth knowledge on HTML and CSS; moreso on CSS. Then we were required to read a chapter from The Spider and the Starfish which talked about the Apaches in the 17th Century and how their Decentralized organization were a key structure to defeating the Spaniards. We finished off the Module by watching a video about the "Fathers of the Internet", Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn; the inventors of TCP/IP protocol.

The assignment that worked best for me was the Codecademy Tutorials. This was an incredible learning tool because of it's step by step instructions. I was able to see how code functions and values manipulated a web-page. It provided beautiful template examples using CSS that made the learning experience fun and interactive. This learning experience paved the way on how I would go about learning new coding languages and solving coding problems.

For my Learning Artifact, I have to give credit to the CSS Select Tutorial. Although the end result of the CSS Select Tutorial may not look as much, I was able to use that as a template to create my original portfolio webpages which resulted in high grades.
