Overview
Module 3 was definitely my favorite out of all the modules because it had to do with databases, particularly MySQL. The reason why I enjoyed databases is because MySQL's syntax and the overall coding is not that hard to understand which made me feel special. MySQL is used to create a database full of tables with fields and values, kind of like a list except more powerful. Similar to Module 2, we used Larry Ullman's PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites handbook to get cozy with MySQL as well as W3Schools. We also utilized NewBoston's MySQL video tutorials which was all hands on exercises that covered a lot of material. Lastly, we used Zend PHP and MySQL tutorial website that had exercises that other entities did not.
The assignment that I found most helpful was New Boston's Video Tutorials. Bucky Roberts was the individual that did the video tutorials and he did an awesome job. All videos go straight into a coding exercise that helps viewers follow along and see their results. He went through all the basic functions and information that allows people to get comfortable with MySQL coding.
My Learning Artifact for Module 3 has to be Zend's PHP and MySQL website tutorial. For this page, I was able to use what I learned from PHP and apply it the MySQL module. I created a page that shows pictures of the Zend's website tutorial as well as pages with databases that was then called by using a PHP function. So for this one page, four different coding languages were used to make up this page; HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. Something I found very fascinating since I am a beginner coder.
